House of Leaves - 250 charcoal drawing installation
The installation was one of the final works to take shape during my residency at the GinDS Bunker. The installation consists of more than 250 charcoal drawings on paper, each returning to the same simple house shape.
The first drawings were made blindly in The Black Shed, repeating the form without sight and allowing it to shift through the act of drawing itself. The house transforms. It becomes a body, a face, a mountain, a rock formation, a stain. No drawing fully replaces the previous one. Each carries traces of the one before it, allowing the house to persist even as it takes on another shape.

Sometimes I can't tell whether I'm drawing something I remember,
or something I'm only seeing just now.
